6th Grade Student of the Week Activity

6th Grade Student of the Week Activity

Thanks to the initiative of sixth graders Laylah Mason and Amila Daoud, students in Ms. Ruckel’s Language Arts Class are promoting a positive and supportive classroom environment through a new student of the week activity. Laylah and Amila approached Ms. Ruckel in early March about regularly recognizing a different sixth grade student each week. On Tuesdays, Ms. Ruckel has the students complete bell work for each class during which they write compliments for the student of the week. The kind and thoughtful compliments are then displayed by a digital projector on the whiteboard. The student of the week is joined by a friend at the front of the classroom to read some of the compliments aloud. Each recognized student is then presented with a certificate with the compliments printed on the back for them to keep. The students greatly appreciate the compliments and look forward to participating in the activity each week. Shout out to the 6th grade students at Greenview Middle School for promoting kindness and representing themselves and their school with Arc Pride!
