Attendance Awareness Month

Attendance

September is Attendance Awareness Month and in conjunction with the district’s ongoing BE PRESENT campaign, the SEL Schools are promoting the importance of coming to school daily and on-time through a variety of creative and fun initiatives. At Adrian Elementary School, students who have perfect attendance during the previous week are selected at random, one from each homeroom, to receive a certificate. As a memorable way to make each recognition more special, Principal Ken Lasky contacts each winning student’s parents beforehand to notify them of their child’s accomplishment and provide them the opportunity to take a picture with their child when they receive their certificate. Each Monday morning, Mr. Lasky announces the winning students’ names and asks them to come down to the main office to receive their certificate. Students receive a welcome surprise as their parents or other family members are there to congratulate and take a picture with them to celebrate their accomplishments. Mr. Lasky and other staff members are also on hand to congratulate and take a picture with those students whose parents or family members are unable to attend. Each photo is then placed in the display booth located in the main entrance.

Memorial Junior High School recently hosted a staff versus students attendance race for the best attendance in the building which features fun incentives. Greenview Campus and K-3 buildings, including Rowland and Sunview Elementary are also promoting attendance with a variety of engaging student goals and rewards. Congratulations to all our students who are meeting the attendance challenge during Attendance Awareness Month. Keep up the great work!
