Third grade students in Mrs. Michelle Burkholder's class at Sunview Elementary recently had the exciting opportunity to meet children’s author Josh Funk during a fun virtual visit. The online meet and greet was the perfect culmination to the students’ recent author study of Mr. Funk during which they read and wrote about several of his books. During the special visit, students excitedly listened to excerpts of some of their favorite stories and asked questions of the award-winning author regarding his use of language, text structure, and development of characters. Students also showed their appreciation of Mr. Funk by displaying homemade signs they made in class. The author of numerous memorable and silly stories such as the Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast series and the forthcoming Attack of the Scones, Mr. Funk also works as a software engineer. Thank you, Mr. Funk, for taking the time to meet with and inspire our third-grade students to love reading and express their creativity through writing!
