Sunview Students Support Marilyn’s Voice

Sunview Supports Marilyn's Voice

Third-grade students in Ms. Kim Erwin’s classroom at Sunview Elementary applied classroom knowledge along with their creativity to help raise funds in support of Marilyn’s Voice, a local animal rescue shelter. Shortly before Winter Break, students created a variety of colorful pet scarves and toys and sold them at a table in the school lobby. The pet toy sale took place in conjunction with classroom learning activities related to economic concepts such as loans, profit, and collateral. Thanks to the generosity of the Sunview Elementary community, the third-grade students raised $1082.00 on behalf of Marilyn’s Voice, which will use the funds towards its mission of rescuing and rehabilitating dogs that have suffered abuse and neglect. At a special school assembly on Tuesday, January 30th, Ms. Erwin’s class presented the check to the owner and another representative of Marilyn’s Voice. The recipients were extremely grateful for the generosity of the school community and brought with them two small dogs which directly benefited from the students’ pet toy sale in December! The students had a wonderful time playing with the energetic pets who showed their appreciation. Congratulations to Ms. Erwin’s classroom for using their talents and classroom learning to make an impact in the greater community!
