Costco Volunteers Make an Impact at Rowland

The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools believe that education is a collective responsibility shared by the entire community. In pursuit of this belief, Rowland remains dedicated to fostering partnerships with various community stakeholders to ensure the realization of this goal. Recently, Rowland was thrilled to collaborate with Costco's Volunteer Reading Program in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, bringing their esteemed initiative to the school. With a rich history spanning over two decades, the Costco Volunteer Reading Program exemplifies the power of community engagement in education. Through this program, dedicated Costco employees generously volunteer their time to provide tutoring sessions for children, committing 30 to 60 minutes per week over a period of 10 to 15 weeks, with materials graciously provided by Costco. We extend our sincere appreciation to individuals like Derecka Stephens, a Brush graduate, and Mrs. Dilliard, for their invaluable contributions. Their one-on-one work with two third-grade students has significantly enhanced their reading skills, highlighting the transformative impact of community involvement in education. As we look ahead, we eagerly anticipate the continuation of this program in the upcoming year, recognizing its profound benefits for our students and the broader community.
