Demarris Winters Receives Coach of the Year Honors

Demarris Winters Wins Coach of the Year Honors

Brush Girls Basketball Coach Demarris Winters was recently recognized by local and statewide media members with a series of prestigious awards. Coach Winters was named All-Ohio Coach of the Year in Division I Girls Basketball by the Ohio High School Athletic Association and The News- Herald’s Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. The series of awards capped off an impressive season during which Coach Winters helped guide the Arcs to an overall record of 22-4 with two players being named to the Division I Girls Basketball All-Ohio Teams, including Tatiana Mason (Third Team) and Chaniyra McDowell-Isaacs (Special Mention).

A lifelong Arc, Coach Winters graduated from Brush High School in 1998, and played basketball for the Arcs, where he was first team all Greater Cleveland Conference, part of the North Coast All Star Team, and Second Team All State. In addition to his coaching duties, Demarris serves as a Youth Development Specialist at Memorial, providing assistance to students for whatever concerns or interventions they might need. He takes pride in encouraging students both on and off the court to be resilient and work hard to achieve personal growth and achievement.
