Family Art Night at Rowland

Rowland Elementary recently hosted an arts-based family event that brought out the artist in everyone and provided multiple ways to get creative through art. On November 6th, more than 100 people explored 12 different art stations, including painting and craft areas.  Attendees at Family Art Night sampled a variety of art forms ranging from "close looking" at the picture find station, to rolling marble painting creations. Those who attended also got a chance to work with guest artist Shelly Svonavec, from Center for the Arts-Inspired Learning, based here in Cleveland. Families worked on two different artistic techniques that resulted in a beautiful coffee filter flower, and leaves filled with positive remarks about our South Euclid community. Student artists were automatically entered into a raffle, where 2nd grader, Ala'iah Boone won a backpack full of art supplies!  A special thank you to Rowland Art Teacher Ashlee Ward for bringing the Family Art Night event to our school community.  This program was a fun opportunity for families to spend time together, and see first-hand, the joy the arts bring to their children.
