Memorial Students Participate in Independent Study

The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools is dedicated to providing students opportunities to develop future-ready skills, as well as pursue their individual passions.  A prime example is the installation of Makerspace equipment in every building that includes 3-D and vinyl printers, and video production technologies.  Memorial 8th grade students Dwayne Amey, Jermaine Hill and Sujood Yakout (not pictured) are pursuing their shared interest in video production through a daily Independent study class offered in the school library during Intervention/Enrichment (3rd period) and Lunch/Study Hall (4th-5th period).  Junior High School/High School Librarian Lisa Hubler and AV Clerk/Library Assistant Chrissy Pease regularly provide a variety of special video projects for each student to develop and refine their video production skills.

Participating students can also create original video productions.  Dwayne recently created a short documentary titled, The Journey, which earned a first-place finish in the PTA Reflections Art Contest!  The film, which can be viewed online here, has advanced to the state-level of the Reflections competition.  The SEL Schools would like to extend special recognition to Dwayne on his award-winning film production.  Finally, congratulations to Jermaine Hill, Dwayne Amey and Sujood Yakout on demonstrating a strong sense of initiative and Arc Pride in their work!
