Brush students Kareem King, Owen Seddon and Mandaw Seck were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements by Superintendent Linda N. Reid at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.  Superintendent Reid introduced each student individually and shared about their impressive accomplishments before a packed audience in the Memorial Junior High School Media Center. Senior Kareem King has been accepted to several prestigious universities, including Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University and Stanford University, and seeks to pursue a career in medicine, both as a researcher and practicing physician.  Junior Owen Seddon recently earned a rank of 41 out 131 total high school participants at the 2019 Individual Player National Championship Tournament (IPNCT) in Chicago, IL.  Owen was invited to participate in the national quiz bowl tournament due to his impressive competition record throughout this past season.  Junior Mandaw Seck will join a select group of 225 juniors and seniors nationwide to participate in Bank of America’s Student Leaders® program.  As part of the program, Mandaw will develop valuable workforce skills and leadership training through a paid summer internship at a local nonprofit organization and participate in a week-long national leadership summit in Washington D.C.  The SEL Schools proudly congratulate Kareem King, Owen Seddon and Mandaw Seck, and wish them continued success in the future!
