Student Leadership Helps Make Brush HS Blood Drive a Success

The East Gym of Brush High School was transformed into an active blood drive center on Friday, April 5th, thanks to the commitment and leadership of thirty-one student volunteers. Under the direction of English teachers Ms. Sallie Fine and Mrs. Kathryn Falkenberg, all publicity and donation schedules for the blood drive were handled by the student volunteers. The volunteers also helped ensure the blood drive ran smoothly by helping students and teachers sign-in, directing them to assigned waiting areas, as well as by providing them assorted snacks once they had finished donating blood. The bi-annual event has been running for over a decade and averaged donations from nearly 90 teachers and students combined. Students and faculty who helped organize the blood drive hope to achieve their goal of 29 pints of donated blood, which will be used by hospitals around the area.

The SEL School District wishes to thank the students and staff of Brush HS for their commitment to making the blood drive a success and to helping save lives!
