Brush Alumni Recently Recognized at White House Ceremony

Heather (Thomas) Cox, a Brush High School Alumni from the Class of ’99, was recently honored by President Barack Obama at the White House as a “Champion of Change” for her outstanding work in the classroom. Cox, currently an educator, was specifically honored as being one of ten local heroes from across the country who has implemented creative approaches in using technology to enhance learning for her students. She was recognized at a ceremony at the White House on Friday, November 22, 2013.

During her time as a student in the SEL Schools, she attended Adrian Elementary School, Greenview, Memorial Junior High and Brush High School. She later performed her student teaching requirements at Adrian Elementary School through the John Carroll Intern program. On referencing the SEL Schools, Mrs. Cox wrote that that ‘she feels very strongly about the SEL Schools’ ability to prepare students for college and beyond.’

Congratulations to Mrs. Heather (Thomas) Cox, who has made the SEL Schools proud with her career accolades!
