Sunview’s Celebrate & Create Gallery Walk

Sunview Hosts Celebrate and Create Gallery Walk

Sunview Elementary School spotlighted the creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm of students and their families with a “Celebrate & Create" Gallery Walk honoring the contributions of African Americans in the arts and other areas of society from Tuesday, February 27th through Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, in the school library. Approximately twenty-five students and their families volunteered to participate in the family engagement project which provided them the opportunity to work together and apply their own unique interests, talents, and gifts to create engaging artwork that utilized a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, clay, and graphic design. During the Gallery Walk, students were stationed with their artwork at tables in the library. Parents and family members visited each table where they were able to learn more about the historical figure celebrated by the artwork as well as the overall design process. Students did a wonderful job sharing about their project with excitement! Family engagement is a part of the district’s Strategic Plan and the Gallery Walk provided parents with a purposeful, hands-on experience that helped to connect the entire school community. Congratulations to all participating Sunview students and families for their superb work and helping to make the “Celebrate & Create” Gallery Walk a resounding success!
