Youth Art Month

 

March was Youth Art Month. Five students from Sunview and 5 students from Adrian had their artwork chosen by their art teacher, Julie Barcza, to be displayed in Cleveland and Columbus.

Skyler Walkem, Adrian 3rd grader, and Sydney Cahill, Sunview 2nd grader were chosen as exhibitors for the 36th Annual Young People’s Art Exhibition sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association. Sunview 3rd grader, Kayla McDade, and Adrian 2nd grader, Bailey Bryant, were chosen as exhibitors for the 2016 Youth Art Month Show sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association. There are nine regions in Ohio representing the OAEA, this year’s show includes 125 students artwork from all over the state.

Sydney, Kayla, Bailey and Skyler both received certificates and a sketchbook with their artwork printed on it. There was an awards ceremony in Columbus. Kayla and Bailey's artwork was displayed at the State Teacher's Retirement System headquarters building in Columbus. Sydney and Skyler's artwork was displayed at the Rhodes State Office Tower across from the Capital Building in Columbus.

Sunview students, Tessa-Joy Dixon, Micai Henderson, and Jonah Grubiss, and Adrian students, Franky Lee, Sofia Lee, and Lorah Farren, had their artwork displayed for the Youth Art Month Show at Case Western Reserve University Art Gallery. Micai Henderson's artwork received a Special Recognition Award at the ceremony.
