Letter from the Asst. Superintendent: Blizzard Bags Given to Students on Thursday, April 17th; Due May 5th

Dear SEL Parent/Guardian:

In the State of Ohio, school districts are allocated five (5) calamity days.  Any day(s) beyond five must be made up in order to meet State Legislation requirements. This year, due to extreme weather conditions, SEL Schools utilized six (6) calamity days and as a result, it is necessary that our students make-up one (1) day to meet our educational obligations. Our District, like many others across the State, has opted to use a “Blizzard Bag” option in lieu of adding a day to the end of the school year. During our recent SEL Board of Education Meeting, we identified April 21st as our official make-up day.

Today, your son/daughter was provided with a packet that includes a number of assignments to fulfill the requirements of our SEL “Blizzard Bag” make-up day. Based on State Legislation, students have two (2) weeks to complete the Blizzard Bag assignments which are due to your child’s respective teacher(s) no later than May 5th, 2014. Once the assignments are turned in, they will be graded by the appropriate teacher and those grades will serve as evidence for our “Blizzard Bag make-up” calamity day.  BHS Seniors may turn in their assignments prior to the May 5th deadline.

If you are in need of additional information, please contact your child’s teacher or building principal.

Respectfully,
Dr. Veronica Motley
Assistant Superintendent
