Christian Wright once again excels as he racks up 286 rushing yards and six total touchdowns, as he helps leads the Brush Arcs to a 48-20 victory against the Eastlake North Rangers.

Brush goes 4-4 on the season, and 4-1 in the conference, while North drops to 3-5, and 2-3 in the conference.

When asked about this game, Wright said “It felt good…we’re continuing our playoff push and we needed this win.”

In terms of passing, Godwin Joe went 8-17 for 156 yards. On the defensive side, the Arcs got a huge effort from nose tackle Tyrone Chambers. On his game, Chambers said “It was a good game… I just helped my team as best as I could… We kept a good head… It was a good win for us.”

Brush started the game slow after Wright fumbled on early Brush drive. This resulted in a Ranger field goal attempt, but the kick was blocked by Khailil Mitchell to give the offense another chance. This led to a 52 yard Wright touchdown to give the Arcs an early 6-0 lead. Brush would add on to the lead as the quarter continued when Christian took another big run to the house, this one 51 yards.

Heading the second quarter, continued the momentum as they had a huge defensive stop that set up Wright to have a deep run that ended inside the ten yard line. That set up Wright for a touchdown pass to Markel Toney to make the game 20-0. On that play, Wright said “It was a cool moment. The pass felt like a fluke, I didn’t think I would do it.”

The Rangers cut into the deficit when they added a 28 yard touchdown to make it 28-6. Brush would respond with two more Christian touchdowns that were set up by big passes by Godwin Joe to Jordan Shahid and Tommy Loya, respectively, making the score heading into the half 34-6 in favor of the Arcs.

Brush would pick where they left off in the third quarter, as they added to their lead thanks to a 71 yard Wright touchdown. On his running back’s performance, Coach Fink said “He continues to get better and each week he’s improving on his game…he’s really done a great job on focusing on some of the smaller things that may not show up in the stat sheet.”

North seemed poised to cut into the lead, as they had a drive inside the red zone. However, they were stopped in their tracks by a Quieten Woodall interception to keep the game 41-6. On the overall play of the defense, Coach Fink said “They ran to the ball and they tackled very well. Tyrone and the defensive line shut down the run game, and the secondary played well when they were tested. It was a very well rounded defensive performance.”

Towards the end of the third quarter, The Arcs would put in their second team. North would score a couple touchdown in the fourth to make it a little closer, but the game was put on ice when the JV Arcs quarterback, Kenyan Thompson would run for a 15 yard touchdown and make the final score 48-20.

The Arcs play perhaps their biggest game of the season this week when they face the undefeated Chardon Hilltoppers on Senior Night. On this huge game with playoff implications for the Arcs, Coach Fink said “Chardon is a very good football program… it’s about focusing on what we need to do… As long as we come in with the right mindset, I think it should be a lot of fun.” Hopefully the Arcs can keep their playoff hopes alive when they face Chardon this week.
