SEL Teachers Present at Recent Teacher Academy
Congratulations to Sunview's Kelly Grist and Rebecca Kidwell, Rowland's Mario Valente and Adrian's John Bottar who presented at the recent Teacher Academy at the Educational Services Center of Cuyahoga County. Sunview's presentation focused on showcasing creativity while still achieving results at the primary school education level. This day was hosted by the Literacy Cooperative, which is designed to support K-2 grade instructors in effective practices. In addition, more than 20 educators from 10 districts were on-hand as well to provide an opportunity for networking, collaborating and sharing ideas. SEL Schools was well-represented at this year’s 6th Annual Teacher Academy.
Heroin Epidemic
Our parents and schools are an integral part of our community and having information about heroin, other opioids, addiction and resources is crucial. We are reaching out to families to provide an opportunity to learn more about the various local and regional resources dedicated to addressing addiction and mental health issues and other related problems associated with these societal concerns. There is much being said about this epidemic and more can being done by increasing our understanding of addiction problems. The panel at this forum is very well versed. There will be a variety of resource providers represented with information on their services. The Cleveland Clinic, in partnership with Live Long Lyndhurst is sponsoring this learning opportunity. THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
Superintendent Reid Meets with Local Business Leaders
Superintendent Linda N. Reid met with six members from the local business community to introduce the Arc Business Partnership. The new program is designed to create a stronger, mutually beneficial relationship between the SEL schools and the local business community. By partnering with the district, local businesses can help support students with financial assistance to provide them with opportunities to pursue academic achievement through scholarships, event sponsorships and contests. In return, the district will say “thank you” and help participating businesses receive additional exposure to the school community through a variety of ways, including recognition in the district newsletter and on the district website. Stay tuned for more info regarding the Arc Business Partnership!
