SEL Pre-School Program Receives 5-Star Rating
The SEL Pre-School program was recently awarded a 5-Star Rating, the highest rating available, by Ohio’s Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) program. The noteworthy distinction demonstrates the high quality of education provided by the district’s Pre-School program and places it within a select group of statewide early learning programs. The SUTQ program is overseen by a cross-agency team from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), and evaluates the performance of early learning programs across four categories, including learning and development, administrative and leadership practices, family and community partnerships, and staff qualifications and professional development. The Pre-School Program serves children ages 3-5 years and provides high-quality educational programming four days per week. Each school day includes two separate sessions running 2.5 hours in length. For students with more intense special needs, one 5-hour session is provided five days per week. For more information about the SEL Pre-School Program, please contact the district at 216-691-2026.
Kwanzaa Celebration with Sunview’s Kindergarten Class

During the month of December, Sunview’s kindergarten classes went on a journey to learn about different cultures and traditions, as well as how each are celebrated. Students got the opportunity to learn about holidays, family traditions, customs that are practiced, and experience some of the foods those cultures eat during these events. Jasira McMillian, now a first grader who was once in Miss Johnson’s Class, her Aunt Keesha and Grandmother Patricia even appeared on Fox 8 in the Morning to spread the word about Kwanzaa, and to invite others to attend their celebration which took place at Garfield Memorial Church, in South Euclid at 4:00p.m. on December 26th.
