Sunview Honors Memory of Former Student with Holiday Toy Drive

Sunview Elementary is honoring the memory of Olivia Schneider, a former student who recently attended Sunview and transferred to another school district, by participating in a special toy drive this holiday season.  As part of Olivia’s Toy Drive, Sunview is currently collecting donations of unwrapped toys in a large collection bin located inside the school lobby through Friday, December 14, 2018.  The holiday event is sponsored by the non-profit organization Olivia’s Dream in partnership with Toys for Tots and seeks to fulfill Olivia’s dream of organizing a toy drive to share love and joy with local children in-need.  A full list of local drop-off locations for Olivia’s Toy Drive is available online.  Thank you to the teachers and students at Sunview Elementary for celebrating the memory of their former classmate, Olivia, by spreading holiday cheer to local children.   More +

Reflections 2018

The Ohio PTA, through the National PTA, holds an annual cultural arts program, Reflections. Children in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit original works of art in any of six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. The theme this year was "Heroes Around Me".  Students were encouraged to create work with this theme in mind. Congratulations to our 2018 winners!

Sunview Kicks-Off 2018 Pennies for Patients Campaign

Giving back to the community and helping those in need is an important area of emphasis at Sunview Elementary.  The school is involved in several building-wide fundraisers each year, including Pennies for Patients, which supports the efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help individuals, including children, in the fight against cancer.  On Friday, November 30, 2018, Sunview held an exciting kick-off assembly for the 2018 Pennies for Patients campaign which featured a fun and informative presentation by Erin Zarancec from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Students learned about the different types of blood cells and how they are affected by cancer, as well as real-life examples of children who have benefitted from donations towards life-saving cancer research and care.  This year marks the 5th year in a row that Sunview has supported the Pennies for Patients Campaign, which will last from Monday, December 3rd through Monday, December 17th. In 2017, Sunview students and staff raised over $1,000 in donations!  Monetary support can be made online, as well as in classroom and individual collection boxes.  Students can receive individual prizes based on the amount of donations collected.  If the building-wide fundraising total meets or exceeds $750, the classroom with the highest amount of money raised will receive a delicious lunch catered by Olive Garden.  Most importantly, Sunview students and staff are energized to once again have an opportunity to be a hero and make a difference in the lives of children!
