ArcFit Grand Opening Draws More Than 225 Attendees

More than 225 people participated in the grand opening for Brush High School’s state-of-the-art training and fitness facility, called ArcFit, earlier this week. Student-athletes, parents, staff members and community leaders took a tour of the facility, experimented with some of the training and fitness equipment and enjoyed refreshments. A brief power point presentation was made by SEL Schools’ Superintendent Linda N. Reid, who showcased the origins of the ArcFit facility. Assistant Superintendent Veronica Motley spoke about the proposed curriculum, and Athletic Director Mike Murphy acknowledged the need for a facility of this significance and thanked the vendors who helped to make it a reality. Stay tuned for more information on the ArcFit Training Facility in the near future.

Test Results Update

On Friday, Nov. 20, the Ohio Department of Education will publish preliminary performance data for Ohio’s school districts from last spring’s PARCC and AIR state tests in math, English language arts, science and social studies.  The Ohio Department of Education has published preliminary test results for many years and they will continue to use the same labels and categories. However, these PARCC and AIR results should not be compared to the previous OAA and OGT scores because these are new tests with greater expectations. Click here for guidance on the five performance levels on the tests and what they mean in Ohio.

Rowland Elementary School Honors Veterans with Special Program

In honor of Veteran’s Day, and in recognition of the men and women who have served the United States in armed service, Rowland Elementary School students developed a special, hand-made quilt. Students contributed a patch to the Veteran’s Day quilt, and the squares depicted both retired veterans and active duty family members, from each of the wars in which the United States has engaged. One special guest on Veteran’s Day was Mr. Mackenzi, who served as a Sergeant, 3rd Battalion, in the United States Marine Corps. SEL Schools salutes all veterans of the United States, and thanks the students of Rowland for their creative means of honoring our nation’s veterans.
